Could be a form of migraine. Migraines can do much, it's a miracle none of them are always correctly diagnosed.
You may have tendonitis, I know what happens with one of my knees and turns this season. Maybe try to set an appointment with a physiotherapist.
Swelling, inflammation, so you really need to see a doctor. You may have an infection in his knee, so it is better to see the doc too.
